'uncle harry was mean to me!'
Right; so it appears that we’ve got a bit of a task on our hands. Chelsea away is probably the hardest place to go in the premier league. In my eyes; what we should be looking at is certainly giving them a run for their money and upping the performance from the second half spurs of old that was exhibited against Manchester United.
Harry says that we’ll be looking to attack; hopefully he omitted the secret plan of also running a tight ship at the back; as we well know, give them a chance; and they are liable to take it. Especially now that Chelsea have returned to a disciplined and well balanced strategy under Carlo Ancelotti. A style of play that has even draws praise from myself; as it seems to offer pretty much unlimited capabilities and quality and depth in every area of the field.
It’s definitely something that we could draw inspiration from; as to a certain extent we only offer threats through certain channels at this stage; and specifically, without Modric our left-hand side we’re looking fairly weak on that particular flank. Which in turn curtails our influence and pressure in the centre of midfield; which in particular is a flashpoint as to whether we play successfully or not. For the most part; the deeper our central midfielders finding themselves plying their trade; the less successful our endeavors are. In my mind; despite his lack of discipline, Gio should be considered as an option on the left; as we’re definitely going to have to stretch the play; as Chelsea’s compact play is pretty much second to none.
On the whole we shouldn’t be too disappointed to lose this game; as any result from it would be a bonus. What is most important however is that we show a level of performance that is indicative of our top four aspirations. As consistency and taking results from the smaller clubs is the lifeblood of the campaign for us. This will only come from week in, week out confident performances regardless of the result. If we win; I’ll certainly have a thing or two to say about Harry as it’s going to be a test of his somewhat unknown tactical quantities.

Yep they’ll try and win but let’s hope we don’t try to lose it as we have done in the past!

we have a habit of playing against ourselves! i think keeping the squad confidence up on the whole for the next run of games is probably the priority! though i can’t wait to see the problems we cause them.
