Where’s Roamin’ Roman Going To Go To?

Roman+Pavlyuchenko_FW_19

could you say no to this face?

Harry seems to have the steely constitution to do exactly that; and moreover on a weekly basis. Whilst it is expected of a shameless agent (and especially russian) to manufacture a move away from a club; quotes attributed straight to Pavlyuchenko himself seem to suggest that Levy will be getting his bargaining hat on again in time for January. Whilst it can be said that we’ll most likely receive nearly every penny we spent on him back; the is the chance that a la Kanoute and to a lesser El Hamdaoui we’ll be ruing the day the decision was made to not adapt to a system where Pavlyuchenko could secure a decent run of games; at least in the cup. It’s safe to say that he will go and most likely (to avoid any further unsettling effect on the team) be replaced with a young striker who is not so aggrieved to sit out for the time being.

The most likely cause for all this hubbub would be the suggested ‘you have to play me clause’ that is mooted to be deeply seeded in Keano’s contract. Whilst he does offer a certain amount of je nais sais quois to a game, in the sense that sometimes I am completely unsure what he does exactly; it would seem that he is undroppable in the sense that even an idea of squad rotation is alien to the thoughts of the gaffer.

What this does mean unfortunately is that we’re probably going to lose our most flawed but potentially effective all around striker and as such limit the possibilities of our attacking game to either long ball, poached goals or the now legendary Keano scramble. To avert a crises here would be to make sure that with the return of Modric the midfield is solidified as a goal scoring entity as well, as it was nearer to the start of the season.

Here’s what Pavlyuchenko is capable of just to remind you all:

And here’s a certain unknown who I’ve heard would be happy for a chance at a starting berth and is known to want to prove himself to Redknapp:

In other news and far more important than the politics of our front line, Carlo Cudicini has been hospitalised this morning following a motoring accident that saw his bike collide with a Ford Fiesta. There are suggestions being mooted that the injuries sustained by the diminutive shot stopper are categorized as serious in regards to his future in the game. The official site are yet to comment on how this will affect his playing for us, but it goes without saying that we wish for a speedy recovery.
